Student from Mrs. Rea's and Mrs. Becker's class have connected to a local park not far from their school building. Twice a year, and once on Arbor Day, these students walk to Duck Park/Island Park to learn from local agencies like NOAA TBNMS, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, and the Alpena River Center. Not only do they move through educational stations such as mammals: pelts and tracks, observation journaling or tree planting, but they collect data from water monitoring stations like macro-invertebrate identification and chemical tests of the river.
