Students in Environmental Science and AP Biology are getting their feet wet in the school forest's bog. When the weather permits, these high school students are installing a boardwalk along an old railroad grade trail that will eventually lead to an outdoor learning platform. The platform will be the site of biological, historic, and cultural interpretative signs along with benches and space for any teacher to bring their classes. The best place to learn about wetlands and bogs is in one!

The focus of this community based education effort is to have students learn about the plants, animals and various habitats present in northern Michigan and to then share that information with their community by creating interpretive nature trails within the school forest.
