Most often the world is brought to the classroom, but for Bob Thomson, the classroom moves out into the world.
Thomson, a teacher at Sanborn Elementary School in Alpena County, has taken great steps to create a science-based program that gets the students out of the classroom and into the outdoors. It's outdoors where they're able to study environmentalism and sustainability through hands-on activity. This creative teaching and learning endeavor is known as the Thunder Bay River Watershed Project.
